WORK TOWARDS YOUR DREAM, SHINE IN TOMORROW
        -   Koichi Kawato
(character from the manga, Rookies, by Masamori Morita)

Welcome to my site. I am a writer based in Long Beach, California.  I am the author of a novella based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, titled, Sword of the Undead.  I have also written a personal finance book, titled, $10 a Day Towards, $1,000,000, and recently published  a book, titled,  Toe Up to 10K, which is about my recovery from spinal cord injury.

My interests are eclectic, so under the "My Interests" tab, topics will be separated.  I know writers are expected to specialize in a particular type or genre, but although there are genres and topics I prefer, I would rather not be limited.  Not to compare myself to acting greats, but James Cagney did not make only gangster flicks, nor did John Wayne make only Westerns, so why should authors do the same?

In June, 2012, I came down with meningitis, and as a result, temporarily loss the use of my legs.  I wasn't guaranteed to walk again, although doctors did think that I would walk well enough after two years.  I reached that point of "well enough"  in around a year, and although I do not walk as smoothly as I did when I became ill, the visual difference is nil.  My running speed has not yet returned, but I am confident that I will be able to run as well as I did before the illness.  I wrote a book about my recovery titled, Toe Up to 10K.  The book won a Gold Medal in the 2015 Readers' Favorite Book Awards in the category, non-fiction inspirational.

My first novella, Sword of the Undead, is currently out of print, in physical form. I re-titled it and will be re-issuing it in ebook format.  The new title of the book is Samurai Vampire, Book II: Sword of the Undead.  The price of the book will be $1.99, which is lower than the price for the current version. The tentative date for this release is September 1, 2016.

Nikkei to Nippon Tsumani Relief Effort Pledge

When I first thought of this, I thought it was self serving, and it is because I'd like to increase sales of Sword of the Undead, and it's roughly 10% of my royalties, and I donated back in March, but the fact is, money is still needed for the relief effort, and people are still displaced, and it is a good cause.  I will be displaced for a few days because my home will be fumigated to kill the termites - and I think that's an inconvenience.  I can't imagine what it would be like to be displaced for months…Read more

Book Expo America (BEA) in New York City last week

I was at Book Expo America last week and had a great time - the attendees were great, my publisher was great, just everything.  I was alotted 25 books to give away and   they were gone within 15 minutes, even had a line at one point.   The comments I received from the attendees were also great.  I heard the word, "fascinating," a couple of times, and a couple of people said they saw that I was signing at 1:00 p.m., and made an effort to come back.

Earthquake and tsunami in Japan

The photos and videos coming out of Japan are sad and terrifying. We in California keep talking about the big one, and today the local news reported that even the San Andreas fault isn't capable of generating an earthquake as powerful as the one that hit Japan on Thursday. And to add a tsunami from six miles out. California is over 5000 miles away and some boats in Northern California were damaged and about 5 people got swept away (one still missing as I write this).

I will be making a donation for the…Read more
