Welcome to my site. I am a writer based in Long Beach, California.  I am the author of a novella based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, titled, Sword of the Undead.  I have also written a personal finance book, titled, $10 a Day Towards, $1,000,000, and recently published  a book, titled,  Toe Up to 10K, which is about my recovery from spinal cord injury.

My interests are eclectic, so under the "My Interests" tab, topics will be separated.  I know writers are expected to specialize in a particular type or genre, but although there are genres and topics I prefer, I would rather not be limited.  Not to compare myself to acting greats, but James Cagney did not make only gangster flicks, nor did John Wayne make only Westerns, so why should authors do the same?

In June, 2012, I came down with meningitis, and as a result, temporarily loss the use of my legs.  I wasn't guaranteed to walk again, although doctors did think that I would walk well enough after two years.  I reached that point of "well enough"  in around a year, and although I do not walk as smoothly as I did when I became ill, the visual difference is nil.  My running speed has not yet returned, but I am confident that I will be able to run as well as I did before the illness.  I wrote a book about my recovery titled, Toe Up to 10K.  The book won a Gold Medal in the 2015 Readers' Favorite Book Awards in the category, non-fiction inspirational.

My first novella, Sword of the Undead, is currently out of print, in physical form. I re-titled it and will be re-issuing it in ebook format.  The new title of the book is Samurai Vampire, Book II: Sword of the Undead.  The price of the book will be $1.99, which is lower than the price for the current version. The tentative date for this release is September 1, 2016.

Touched By an Angel

While waiting for the bus yesterday, a homeless man walked up to me, smiled, laughed, some gibberish came out of his mouth, and he patted me on the shoulder. I smiled back, laughed and nodded my head. He laughed some more, said some more gibberish and patted me on the shoulder again and walked off. At first I wanted to take a shower, but then I realized that he might be an Angel giving me some reassurance. When I thought that, I felt really positive, so maybe he was.

Donation to the Brain Tumor Foundation

My close friend's wife recently passed away after a battle with a brain tumor.  I asked him if there was any organization I could make a donation to, and he replied to the Brain Tumor Foundation.  Therefore, one donation I make to that organization will consist of 10% of the royalties I receive from January 1, 2011 - February 28, 2011 sales of my book, Sword of the Undead.

Secret Passages Bookstore in Long Beach, CA

Secret Passages is a new independent bookstore in the East Village Arts district of Long Beach, CA that specializes in horror/sci-fi/fantasy/anime.

If you are looking for a huge mega-store with everything under the sun, you won't get it here. What you do get is a small, inde shop, the type that makes for great browsing. I came across some interesting titles in the used section that are probably out of print. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable about the genre they represent.

Lunch with Fellow Writers

In February of this year, I spoke to a writing class, and today, I was invited to their reunion.  The attendees all shared their experiences since they last got together.  It was great to hear other writers on their progress on their writing goals.  I, too, was able to tell them that Sword of the Undead did get published and some of my experiences with marketing took.
